                                   Mr. Arnold Allanach

It is with the greatest sadness that the Wharfedale & District F.A. have to inform you
of the death of our Life Member Mr.Arnold (Arnie) Allanach who passed away after a long
  illness very bravely borne.

He passed away at home, which was his wish, on Tuesday the 10th. March 2009.

Arnie following being presented with the Football Association                 Arnie as Treasurer, with
50 years Service to Football Awards which he received on the               Horsforth St. Margaret's
2nd. July 2008. He was very proud.                                                       in the 1970's

Arnie was first elected to the Association in 1972 and served with distinction until his illness
sadly prevented him attending meetings. His last Full Executive meeting was on Thursday the
6th. May 2004. He was elected as a Club Representative from Horsforth St. Margaret's A.F.C.
He then became a Vice President for many years until he was made a Life Member following
21 years service to the Association, that was in 1993.

After the 2nd. World War Arnie was involved in re-forming Horsforth St. Margaret's A.F.C.
when they broke away from being the Reserve side of Horsforth A.F.C.
The Committee was formed, with Jim Atkinson (Chairman), Bob Allwood (Secretary) and
Arnie held the position of Treasurer for over 40 years.
In later years when he came to the dressing rooms before a game the players used to announce,
  "ey up, the wallets here"!

He was instrumental with the St. Margaret's committee in building the present dressing rooms
at the Cragg Hill ground in 1970 with the help of Horsforth Urban District Council who paid
for the services, water, sewage and drainage. It cost over £400-00 and the Council gave the Club
an interest free loan for 10 years. £40-00 a year, excellent!
The dressing rooms cost about £1000-00 but the players who had trades as Joiners Bernard Grubb,
Plumbing the late George Swart, tiling Trevor Buckley, decorating Jack Heppenstall and electrical
Reg Allwood did all the work inside the building with Arnie keeping an eye on the finances.
The Club only paid for the materials used, the labour was for love!
Arnie took up refereeing for a few years, being a member of the Wharfedale Referees Association.

The service and cremation took place at Rawdon Crematorium on:

Wednesday the 18th. March 2009.

It was great to see so many old players at Arnies Funeral,
players from the 1950's, 1960's, also from each decade, 1970's, 80's 90's and up to the 2000's.
The Wharfedale & District F.A. were well represented by many members, Arnie was so well
liked and respected. May he rest in peace!

Donations in memory of Arnie may be made to the Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Arnold  was the dearly loved husband of the late Patricia (Pat), much loved Father of
Alison, Andrew, Philip and the late Janice and a dear father in law and much loved Grandpa.

you of the sudden death of our Life Member Mr.Ken Farnell who passed away
peacefully on Monday the 2nd. February 2009, he had not been ill.
Ken was first elected to the Association in 1966 and with the exception of the 1968-
1969 season he served with distinction until his untimely death.
All Executive Members and Officials of the Association, together with all Clubs,
Referees and Leagues send our heartfelt sympathies to his wife Christine and
everyone in his family at his sudden and untimely passing.
